Crimes of the Future and Videodrome

  • Burdall's Yard Anglo Terrace Bath, England, BA1 5NH United Kingdom (map)

We're back, baby! And this time we're celebrating the work of the sweetest, gentlest body horror freak out there: David Cronenberg. To us at Reel Life Monsters, body horror as a sub-genre is inherently pretty trans-coded. Varying levels of control over bodily autonomy, visceral reactions from the people around you, with medicine and surgery often looming overhead. You get the picture.
We're so excited to be celebrating Cronenberg's exceptional career as the unintentional king of trans-friendly body horror with a double bill of CRIMES OF THE FUTURE and VIDEODROME, with an introductory talk by the extremely talented and outrageously lovely tattoo artist Molly Mapp, who will be talking about body modification culture and more specifically why people choose to change their bodies, either through tattoos, piercings, or implants (to name just a few).

Head over to Burdall's Yard on July 14th, with doors opening at 17:45, to join us for this exceptional duo of films that have been chosen to celebrate the decades-long career of one of our most beloved directors.
As always, we will have art for sale by Danny Leigh and Zoe Burgess, with plenty of time before, between, and after the films for you to have a good look at their wonderful work.
