Façade: An Entertainment and Henry V: A Shakespeare Scenario

Cardiff Opera performs two charming pieces by William Walton. Walton was good friends with the poet Edith Sitwell and it is her work that forms the texts for Façade. These quirky and humorous poems are matched by Walton’s witty orchestration. Paired with this is a suite from Walton’s score for Henry V. An orchestral favourite, this suite contains extracts from Shakespeare’s play, masterfully balanced with Walton’s sweeping composition. Performed by Niall Hoskin and Kate Willetts with the Cardiff Opera Chamber Ensemble, conducted by William Stevens.
